ConventionsFirst of all, the conventions of my text/copy differs. I have used alliteration such as 'amazing artists', rhetorical question 'who will you vote for?', artist name as the kicker 'Samiye Mazlum', I also used lyrics from a song of Rihanna's and put it in quotations- 'hate that I love you' considering its relating to the strapline underneath it about relationships. I used the name of my masthead in a strapline, also in red showing that the copy of the whole magazine relates to one another and that it is a music magazine. I also made it sound exclusive including words like 'New' and 'Exclusive'. I have included a barcode, date and website name on the front cover just like 'VIBE' magazine. I have also used play on words such as 'JLS holds hands up and confess!' As the words 'put your hands up' are lyrics from their latest song.
Image
The main image is an image is a long shot of me. I am wearing a red and black dress, a little black eye make-up and red lipstick to contrast with the whole of the magazine. Also ,the lightning is focused on me from top to bottom. The effect that this has is that it makes the magazine seem fresh, bright and most important eye-catching to the audience. The magazine connects with the audience as in the Image I am looking directly at the camera, therefore there is audience inclusion involved and they are not just observers. Because the target audience is aimed for 15- 21 year olds the image relates to this as it is an image of a young girl wearing a fashionable dress and high heels - you could say a party outfit.
Language
The magazine is called 'LIVE' magazine. It reflects the content as everything is up to date and is current. 'LIVE' means it is happening now and it also reflects the idea of live music. The straplines do have some linguistic devices. e.g. 'Amazing Artists' which is a form of alliteration. 'who will you vote for?' which is a rhetorical question. 'JLS holds hands up and confess' which are play on words as 'holds hands up' are from their lyrics. 'Hate that I love you' are lyrics from Rihanna's song and the strapline about relationships underneath relates to this. I have included a barcode, date and website name. I did not include the price as i could not find one on 'VIBE' magazine as my magazine were a influence of that specific magazine. The reason why the image is above letter 'V' is to show that the magazine is well known. The words 'reveal' and 'live' within the straplines are red and of an italic typeface. This is to show exclusiveness of the magazine. The word 'exclusive' on the right is light blue and stands out from the rest of the magazine to show this strapline is different and it would be eye-catching to the audience. The text also anchors the image as it is a new artist called 'samiye mazlum'. It directs our understanding of the narrative codes in the image as the text or straplines are quite equally balanced on either side of the magazine. The typeface that I used was 'Tahoma'. The effect it has on the magazine, is that it looks sophisticated and neat. It looks bold and the typeface also is clear to read as the letters are separated from each other, not joint. The copy has been placed all around the image and of differnt sizes. The masthead is of a size '???' to show what the magzine is called and the representation of the magazine. The strapline headings are of a size '???' so they stand out as the next important news on the page and fianlly the actual stralpines are of a size '???' to show a little detail of what it's about.
Media Producers
The magzine was made in order to show my skills of using different software such as Photoshop. I made the magazine hence the reason that I can show my use of lingustic devices and mise en scene overall. It relates to similar magazines such as 'VIBE' as the image overlaps the masthead. The image is central. The straplines are on either side and the whole magazine consists of no more than four different colours. The media text does not remind me of another medium intextuality but it may do to the audience.
Messages and Values
Young new artists are represented in the text as it lists the artists alongside the right. Also, the idea that JLS have done something wrong is also represented in the text within the strapline 'JLS holds hands up and confess!'.
