Here, I have created a magazine front cover for the Lordswood girls' school sixth form. To do this I had to use the correct software for my final outcome. The software I used was Photoshop Elements as I can create different layers, having the main image as my background layer and the copy in my foreground layer.

I had to first of all think about what image to have as part of my front cover. whether it's going to portray the basketball academy or the media art suite and it's facilities. So, I decided on taking a portrait image of the use of media on the apple computers. I did take a couple of images first but they didn't really appeal to me as much as this one did. Once I had uploaded the image, It was dark, so I changed the contrast making the whole image much more lighter than it was. I wanted to make the girl closer to the camera more focused on by the audience, doing her work on a apple computer, showing the use of good technical equipment in the sixth form. To make her stand out I had to use the Lasso Tool to cut around the girl and the computer and then opening a new layer and copying and pasting it onto there. Once I this, I clicked onto 'Filter' at the top, 'Blur' and then on 'Motion blur'. I then adjusted the number of pixels allowing the unselected parts of the image look a little blury.
For my magazine, I had to think of a suitable masthead. The masthead that I came up with was 'Lordswood Exclusive'. I liked it because it is different to other people's. I also like the word 'exclusive' because It sounds quite professional. For the colour of this text I used the pippette to get the colour of the girl's Jumper. I then highlighted the masthead and then clicked on the colour to apply it to the masthead. In order to make my magazine front cover look proffesional I had to use only two to three colours that complimented each other. I thought the green, yellow and simple black worked well. The font I used for the masthead was 'Arial Black' of a font size, '391 pt'. I also made the masthead bold afterwards so I could fit in the year, '2009/10' into the letter 'd' of lordswood. Under the word 'Lordswood' I wrote 'A specialist Centre for Media Arts and Applied Learning' to show the great competence and successfulness of the Sixth form.
I also had to include straplines, showing what the Sixth Form has to offer. My first strapline was under 'media'.
